Something Unexpected Kept Happening at Our Pop-Up

we thought it would be simple

people would come
pick something they liked
and leave

but we began to notice a very different pattern

a father stood there with his two daughters
going back and forth between two pairs of earrings
“mumma wears light ones, right?”
they finally chose a pair they said she could wear every day

a mother picked up a ring, kept it back, picked another
and smiled a little
“she’s in that phase… only black, nothing pink anymore”
she chose a simple black ring
“these teenagers are very picky… hope she likes it”

someone visiting the city for work
walked in, looked around slowly
and chose a bracelet with pink flowers
for his daughter back home

two friends stood next to a newly married husband
helping him figure it out
“she goes to office daily, she’ll want something small… maybe this length”
they kept discussing, comparing
until it felt right—they picked a necklace, a matching ring, and a pair of earrings

it kept happening
again and again

people weren’t really choosing jewellery
they were choosing someone
thinking about what they wear
what they like
what they’ve outgrown

men, more than we expected,
stood there, taking their time
trying to get it right

and women—
they were choosing for each other too
mothers, daughters, friends
in ways that felt just as intentional

somewhere in between all of this
our idea of जeevni started shifting

from something you buy
to something you say

and maybe, without us planning it—
it’s slowly becoming a love language
